Simple Complexity.

Ever hear of an oxymoron? An oxymoron is a figure of speech in which the terms used contradict each other. My example would be simple complexity. Simple and complex are opposite each other yet putting them together you get a totally different concept than before. I personally love when I see oxymorons. Things that don't go together always seem to fit in my mind. My friends who know me would be like "says the girl who has to match in everything she does." I just love when things are ironic or better yet, I love when things are out of place and don't make sense. Those things that are out of place are easy for me to pick out and analyze. I can take a simple concept and complexicate it. (For example instead of using "complicate" I created the word "complexicate" because that is more complex and abstract.) Making things complex provides entertainment and it can also give you the solutions you need. Like when you have to write a 5-7 page research paper on one simple topic. You can think complex and have more than enough to say. Therefore your page requirement is met. That's why I like making things complicated.

BUT........

Making things complicated can also lead to disaster. For example, taking a look you received from someone and devising a theory of how the person hates your guts. That is how something simple and misjudged can become a complex disaster. I personally have a problem with this. I make everything so complicated. As I mentioned earlier, I like making things complicated TO AN EXTENT!!! I'm not saying I love being complicated and causing drama because I hate drama with a burning passion but one of my fatal flaws is my quickness to make a matter complicated. I would take a simple joke and make it into something it was not meant to be or I would take my friends hanging out without me as a sign that they didn't like me. That is not okay. In those instances complexity is not what you want. I believe it is in my personality to be complicated or flamboyant. When I was a kid I would always "take the long way" or find the hardest thing to do and do it. I like doing complicated things and them turning out to be a success. I feel that is so rewarding.

I am trying to change how I interpret the simple things. Instead of making situations complicated in a bad way I looked at them in a complex way to see different views. Basically what I do is I try to think of many different reasons the situation is happening. Perspective is a big part in simple complexity as well. You should never look at something one sided. Complicate, decipher, and understand. In my speech class we learned that the most effective way to communicate is to listen, give feedback, and appreciate. Listening is a complex thing. Anything that has to do with the body is complex within itself. Giving feedback is deciphering what the person said and suggesting ideas of what could be. Lastly, appreciate both sides, the sender's message and the receiver's message. Understand that sometimes there can be more than one way to do things.

A simply complex word I want to bring to your attention is the name "Jesus." Jesus in Hebrew is "Yehshua" which means savior. People use this name all the time. Sometimes they use it in prayer and, sadly, some people use it to curse. When I use Jesus's name I use it to proclaim things. Anytime I am in trouble I call on Jesus name. Jesus can preform miracles, he can move mountains, and he can do the impossible. Everything changes when Jesus is involved. Jesus, a simple name, can do complex and challenging things such as calm storms, heal the lame, blind, and deaf, and he can even raise people from the dead.

To wrap up my randomness, I am going to give you a couple of simply complex and ironic concepts that I have come up with and how we can apply these to our lives:

~Peace in the storm: peace is a simple word meaning stillness and a storm is a weather term used for turbulence in the air. Ironic how you can find peace in a storm. Mark 4:39 says "And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, 'Peace be still.' And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm." This scripture is when Jesus was in the boat with the disciples and they came upon a storm on the sea. Jesus provided peace in their storm. He can do the same for us.

~Beautifully broken: Broken things are usually not considered beautiful. They are all distorted, scarred, scratched, and messed up. Beautiful isn't usually used to describe something broken. But I think broken is beautiful. If you think about it, things can't get any worse than broken. If something is broke it can always be fixed. That is beautiful. When I see broken things I think "there is only hope" and that is such a beautiful thing. There is a song called "Beautifully Broken" that talks about how God's love and grace can fix any broken part of you.

I provided a link for you to listen to this song. God can fix any part of you. You are beautifully broken.
